Iron Dominion

Iron Dominion drops you onto a contested continent with a single outpost and a lot of ambition. You expand, research, and eventually clash with rival factions in battles you can either auto-resolve or play out manually. The manual battles are where it shines, with terrain and unit types mattering a great deal.

What we appreciated most is the pacing. Buildings finish in reasonable windows, and the game never nags you to come back. You can plan a turn, set things in motion, and check in later without feeling punished.

The tech tree opens up genuinely different playstyles, from a fast military rush to a slow economic snowball. It rewards planning over reflexes, which makes it a great sit-down-with-coffee game.
