A week with Big Bass Bonanza: still casting

I'll be honest, when Big Bass Bonanza landed in our review pile nobody rushed to claim it. A casual fishing game doesn't scream must-play on paper. Then it quietly turned into the thing everyone reached for during breaks.

The core loop is dead simple: cast, wait, feel the tug, and reel with the right timing. What makes it stick is how tactile that reel-in feels. There's a little resistance in the animation and sound design that makes landing a big catch genuinely satisfying, even the hundredth time.

Big Bass Bonanza is also smart about progression. New fishing spots and gear trickle in at a steady rhythm, so there's always a small carrot ahead without any pressure to grind. You can play for two minutes or twenty and it never punishes you either way.

My one tip: don't rush your casts. The game rewards patience, and once you settle into its rhythm the whole thing becomes weirdly meditative. It's not a deep game, but it knows exactly what it is, and it does that one thing really well.
