Five adventure games built for your commute
The best test of a mobile adventure game is a subway tunnel. If it needs a constant connection to do anything, it fails the commute. Thankfully plenty of great ones run entirely offline.
Hollow Lantern is my go-to right now. Its slow, atmospheric exploration is perfect when you've got twenty quiet minutes and headphones. Nothing about it demands you rush, which suits a train ride.
For something with a bit more structure, story-driven adventures with checkpoint saves work brilliantly. You can put the phone down mid-scene and pick up exactly where you left off, no lost progress.
A quick checklist before you install: does it save often, does it work offline, and can you pause instantly? If all three are yes, you've found a proper commute companion.
We'll keep updating this list as we find more, so bookmark it if commuting is where most of your gaming happens.
